At a meeting of the Christclmreh branch of the New.Zealand Institute of Journalists, held this afternoon, n resolution vras carried expressing approval of the steps taken by the Wellington branch of the institute in regard to the improvement of the salaries aud conditions of employment of journalists, and a subcommittee was set up*'to consider in detail the proposals of the Wellington branch, and report to a general meeting to be held early next week. A meeting of journalists is to be held on Friday, when the report of a .conference held at Wellington will bo considered. Since the conference was held, steps have been taken locally to enrol members of the union, and 'practically every working journalist in the city'has enrolled with tho union.
