HOSPITAL CONTROL.

Chisholm, on tho nursing staff, wero accepted with regret. Nurse A. 1\ Faram has been appointed charge nurse at the Victoria Hospital, and Nurse E. Hobb's has been appointed permanent night charge Sister. It was resolved that a letter of appreciation he posted in tho Nurses' Home, at the slicccss attained by the nurses in tho recent State examinations—Nurse J. Gilmer being first, and Nurse G. Meddins third on the list, for the Dominion. Tho tender .of Messrs. Bulford and Drewitt was accented for installing outside electric light at tho Infectious Diseases Hospital. ■ Tho amount of the ten-' der was <£7 as. It was decided that Dr. Hardwicke Smith, medical superintendent, ho-granted leave of absence, for six months, early next year,' to enablo him to visit England. During his absence he will receiro three months' full salary. The following is the fortnightly return (July 23 to August 5) of tho patients of the hospital (last year's figures during the same period aro given for comparison in parentheses):—Admitted, 127 (107); discharged, 113 (OS); still in hospital, 301 (202). Tho total number of males and females in tho various buildings are:— Males 105, and females 13G. It was decided to carry out various improyements at the Victoria Hospital. Otaki Sub-Committee. The Otaki Sub-Committee reported.that the statistics for the month of July, for tho hospital and sanatorium were as follows—Hospital: Admitted, 13; discharged, It; under treatment, 8 males and 5 females.
