SPORTS PROTECTION LEAGUE. The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. Mr. 11. POLAND (Ohiacmnri) moved that a number of petitions received from different branches of the New Zealand Sports Protection League should all bs Teforred to one committee— the A to L l'ctition.9 Committee. This was agreed to. DAY'S BAY RESERVE. Mr. T. M. WILFORD (Hutt) addressed i question to tho Prime Minister, without notice.. He stated that there were C"3 acres of bush land at Day's. Bay owned by a ferry company. For two or three years ho liad been endeavouring to get tho Govurnmeut to acquire, tlio land for tho citi->«ns-.of-Wellington, and for residents in tho surrounding district, including tho constituency which he represented. A scheme- had now been proposed,' under which the city of Wellington and neigh-' touring boroughs should raise, the necessary money from tho Governmental order to acquire this beautiful reserve. A question had cropped up as to tho ,legalitv of local bodies jointly pledging themselves lor the repayment of tho loan. Would the, Prune -Minister refer to tho Crown Officers tho question as to whether thesa local bodies could combine to purchase a scenic reserve. If they could not combine, would tho Prime Minister put a Rlaiise in the washing-up Bill to allow such a,combination to be made? Tho PRIME MINISTER said' that the question would be referred to the Ctowii Laiv Officers.
