It.is a dramatic study, purport- ' to deal with the Franco-Prussian • War of 1870, in which the trials of a - young German officer, who falls in'lore • with a French girl, are depicted. Their • nffairo d'amour is not apparently as' • happy as these things usually prove in ■ fiction, as, following upon their bethothal, i tho officcr is called to duty at the war, > "Tho supporting items are starred bv an ' BMiting series of views of tho recent 1 Dieppe motor race, tho course beins twenty times round a 48-milo circuit. 1 Chantilly Cream" is an. excellent comic, while "Honour v. tho Sword" is another capital dramatic subject. In addition to the numerous'special features nlready mentioned, tliero are many - introduced items. which havo found high favour with Australian aiidionccs. Tho song of Miss Imeso'j, "Follow the Tramlines," is, it: is stated, almost certain to ,become popular liorc. Howard, Pip Howard, and others, makes it a buoyant success. The slave-selling • • episodo, m which the comic business i« deftly handled by' Messrs. .Drow and • Alders, is a bright item. The most important introduced turn—that of • the Slcedes—remarkable people who come on in the second act and contribute a sort . of table-turning pantoniihio of their own, is said to bo very smartly and- cleverly executed. The management desires to call particular attention to the curtain rising at 7.45 sharp every evening, and at 1.15 on Saturday afternoon.
