FAR-REACHING LABOUR BILL. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright Sydney, August 13. Gas shares have slumped heavily as the result of a Bill introduced by the Gpvemnient dealing with gas companies. The Bill' provides for the cheapening of the prico of gas, with heavy penalties for supplying a defective illuminant, and fixes the dividend at not more than four per centum on lite paid-up capital of the companies. _ Tjio Australian.Gas Light Company's shares have fallen .£4 10s. since Friday. They aro now, at Xl 3 10s. INDIGNANT UNIONISTS. (Rec.. August 14, 0.30 a.m.) Sydney, August 13. A section of unionists are up in arms against the Government for its slum areas resumption, which is stated to have < caused hardship by bringing about increases in rents to the poorer classes. Complaint is also made that under the Gas Companies' Bill tho Government, by forcing all profits over 4. per cent, to bo utilised in reducing tho'prico of gas, will thus preclude tho raising of gasworkers' wages.
