MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
6 (Before Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.ST.) CIVIL CASE. A CLAIM FOE COMMISSION. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday W. ;H. Long and Co./of • Wellington, sued; Bertie Coleman Jaoobs,. of Christchurch,' for J346 7s. 4d., as commission on sale of produce. The sum of ,£3B 9s. id. was paid into Court, and respecting other item's, questions of trade custom were raised. ■ Mr. R. Kennedy appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. J. J. M'Grath for the defendant. Evidence for the defendant had been heard in Ohristchurch, and yesterday Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., heard evidence for the plaintiff. Decision was reserved. POLICE CASES. (Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) Charles Hinds was charged with having made use of certain language in public. He pleaded not guilty, and was defended by Mr. P. W. Jackson. After hearing the case, his Worship fined defendant £2, with lis. costs. ' For having broken a prohibition order, Mary Donaldson was fined .£3, and William Wallace i£3. Thomas Carswell was sentenced to thirty days' imprisonment for having disobeyed, a.maintenance order made by the Court. Jessie Alice Burton was granted separation and guardianship orders agaiust j her husband, Henry Lewis Burton. | For insobriety, lirnest Hedges' was fined - ■ Arthur Tabrum was convicted on a J charge of his having failed to pay the fare on the steamer Pateena when travelling between. Pieton and Wellington. He was ordered ■to pay the amount of the fare (lis.). Joseph Raitt was fined <£3 for having used certain language. ' Harry Bleasel was fined <£2 for having stolen a gold watch, a chain, and a gold medal from David Barelap. Maud Press was granted maintenance, separation, and ■ guardianship orders against her husband, Henry Leonard Press. For having workod a hoTso which the police considered was unfit" to be ridden, Philip Peter Francis Albrecht (the employee, who rode the horse) was fined 55.; and Nicholas Fernandoes (the employer, who instructed the boy to use the horse) was fined i! 2. JUVENILE COURT. A youth of 15' years was dealt with' in the juvenile Court on threo charges ol his having misappropriated postal notes and a money order. Tho boy was convicted and ordered to appear for sentence when ..called on, and his father was required to enter into a bond of i£2o that the lad would bo of good behaviour for. one year.
