SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for strong easterly winds northward of East Cape arid Kawhia. Moderate to .strong soutlierlies decreasing elsewhero, and then changing to increasing northerlies after about 20 hours. Cold and fair to cloudy weather will probably prevail, with some scattered local showers. The barometer , will probably fall everywhere after 24 hours, and a low-preesure area pass in the Bouth about Wednesday night. The barometer fell on Saturday morning, but rose smartly during the night and on Sunday, when the winds changed to the south. Cold and stormy weather was experienced, especially in the South Island and southern parts of the North Island. Considerable rain, snow, hail, and sleet fell on the E(tst Coast and higher levels. . Masterton, Augusrt 12—Bitterly cold weather was experienced to-day, with occasional 9h.ower3 of sleet and snow. Hastings, August 12.-To-day Ins teen bitterly cold, and very wintry.
