. ~4 ~^~ WAIEARAPA'S EFFORT. CBj Teloeraph.—SDoclal CornssDondenM Masterton, August 11. . At tlio meeting of' tho Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday, the question of securing the establishment of an agricultural college in tlio Wairarapa was discussed. The president and several members of the committee urged that there was no district' in the Dominion so favourably situated for such an institution as tho Wairarapa. Mr. A. H. Vile, who was present, stated that ho had endeavoured to get ftn interview with/ the ex-Prime Minister cm. the subject, but had failed, Mr. Hassey, however, had promised to receive a deputation at an early date. The following resolution was carried by the association:—"That, this association suggests 'hat, in view of the alteied circumstances, a, further meeting of local bodies be held iu tho AVairarapa to discuss the question of a deputation to tlio Prime Minister on the subject of an agricultural college for the district. Also that Mr. A. H. Vile, as original convener, bo requested to convene such a meeting, and that the names of Messrs. W. Perry, J. Strang, and 1). M'Gregor, jun., bo added to the list.of delegates from this association." In consequence of this, Mr. Vile has convened a meeting of delegates to bo held at Masterton on Saturday next, and it is probable that a strong case will be made out to go to the Government with.
