The altitude record for Canada is claimed by Mr. Oden Martin, of Boston, who attained 6100 feet in a biplane. MAIL SEEVICE. (Eec. August 11, 5.5 p.m.) Brussels, August 10. The Government is organising aeroplane competitions with a view to the transport of mails from Congo to Cairo, IN A WATEEPLANE. (Eec.August 12, 0.15 a.m.) London, August 11. Maclean, a Britisher, left Whitchurch and flew in. a waterplane Tip the Thames over Tower Bridge and under tho remaining bridges, bouncing on the water under Blackfriars Bridge, and alighted at Westminster Pier. CAPSIZED. (Eec. August 12, 0.15 a.m.) London, August 11. Benumont, an aviator, made an attempt in a hydro-aeroplane to go abovo the water from Paris to London, proceeding along the Seine and around the coasts. Immediately after leaving Bou- j logne he was caught by a gust of wind, and capsized two hundred yards from the shore. Ho was rescued, having clung to | the upturned keel of his hydro-aeroplane.
