STEAMER SINKS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Duluth (Minnesota), August 9. The American Steam Boat Company's steamer-James Gayley, 4777 tons, gross, sank yesterday, off Manitou, after a collision with the steamer Rensselaer, 5124 tons, also belonging to the American Steam Boat Company. No lives were lost. Five women, clad only in their nightdresses, were rescued from the sinking vessel, which went down within twenty minutes of the collision. The Marine Court at Quebec, which has been inquiring regarding the recent collision between tho Canadian Pacific Railway Company's liner Empress of Britain and the British collier Helvetia, has delivered its judgment. The captain of tho Empress of Britain was held to be blamcable, and is censured, while the captain of the Helvetia is exonerated from blame.
