Referring lo the inauguration of ac* countancy examinations under tha auspices of tlm Sew Zealand University, it is observed that the papers *et were flironglt" out of nil exceedingly high standard, and (lie council is confident; that, (lit , nrrangement's entered into with the University Senate will enhance Iho value of (lio examinations in tliu eyes of tho- profession, and of tho commercial wimnuniiy in N««; Zoalaiul, and throughout the British Empire. The societies in Auckland, Wellington, Duncdin, and Nelson have, during the year, continued to carry out: valuable instructional work, mid the recently-formed societies in Timaru, Napier, and Ilaslings have already exluliiled signs of activity.. The willing assistance afforded to theso societies liy way of lectures on technical ami professional subjects, by members of tho legal and accountancy professions, is deserving of specinl mention. SI embers of tho council havo rendered practical assistance where possible, and in several ca=os have made lecturing trips outside thoir own districts. Steps havo Ih'cu taken by the council to ensure ..(hat all student MicicHos are worlciiif; under the auspices of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. It is tho intention of tho council to foster and enconrago those, valuable societies.
