"TWIXT WAR AND THE GIRL."
Twii-t War aud the Girl," a- aim which professes to show something of the war between France and Germany in. 1870, will bo the star attraction at tho Jungs Theatre on Monday next Tho management state that, for intensity of dramatic fervour «ud striking portravals of military life, " 'Twist War and'the trirl stands out. The managerial note proceeds; 'for those very reasons it will no doubt prove one of the most successful of West's, Ltd., popular series of feature subjects. The photographic quality is excellent, and many of the incidents are enacted in tie midst of splendid scenery, all these features contributing to an excellent and complete production." inother special subject will be the great Dieppe Motor Kace, run last month, and shows this exciting race from etn.rt to finish. THE DATDIES. Tho Dandies (green), who, appear nigatly at tho Concert Chamber of the lown Hall, have become quite popular, judging by the good patronage which they are getting: The Chamber was'well filled 'evening, and the audience appeared to,do; delighted by tho numerous items rendered. Tho present programme will be repeated for the, last time to-night, as a change of programme is due on Monday evening. . ■ . ■ . THE ADELPHI THEATRE. A benefit performance was given in. aid of tho Tβ Aro Sailing Club at the Adolphi Theatre lost evening, the house being packed. A programme of moving pictures suitable to the occasion was screened during tho first part. At the interval, the trophies won last season were presented by Mr. Geo. Winder. In the second half of the programme, musical and elocutionary items were rendered by Miss Jlinifte, Mrs. Mitchell, and Messrs. Fletcher, Okey, Warren, Jliniflp, and Parker. The accompanist was Mr. M'laughlin. , ■' ■ "SINBAD THE SAILOH." Specialities now ploy a prominent parr, in. ovory pantomime entertainment, and r.ovelticr are brought from far aud near. Xhs specialty in "Sinbad the Sailor" is a mysterious and attractive one. The start liag manner in which furniture, lights, ond hmnun heads materialise suddenly, out of space gives tho nerves of the spectator a mild shock. Another good instance of the clever mechanism of the modern stage is the aviation without aeroplanes, whereby the rose-bearing girls Jy out into the auditorium, clear over the leads of tho occupants of the stalls. The pallets, marches, and groupings add to .he effectiveness of the production, and :ho ladies and gentlemen appearing as the various characters became firm favourites throughout Australia, especially the eomediads, who are funny without vulgarity. Bos , plans for the first six I nights and matinee will bo opened at the Dresden on Monday, morning next. • j
