INDIANS IN FIJI.

e ORDERLY, AND INDUSTRIOUS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, August 8. Mr. Turner, .Mayor of Suva, is visiting Sydney. Replying to a question as to whether tho 5(5,000 Indians now in Fiji constituted a danger, ho said his conviction was if Fiji had a hundred thousand Indians it would be a distinct advantage to the progress of the country, which was tropical, and which, if it was going to compete with other countries in, similar latitudes in the world's markets, must bo placed on a similar footing as regards labour. The Fijians worked only when it suited them, and employers were unable to recruit kanakas. Anyway, there was no more danger of introducing tho coolio than the kanaka—perhaps less. The Indians were orderly and industrious.
