THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. I'rcsenfc indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale, veering to southerly shortly. Cold and showery weather probable generally, with heavy rain on the West Coast and Enow on higher levels. The barometer is very unsteady in the south, but is likely to fall again to-morrow before a decided rise, takes place. A westerly area of low pressure now envelops the country, and the barometer has fallen low in the south. Westerly winds prevail, and gales are reported from several stations in the South Island. The weather has proved very unsettled in the south, and rain has fallen on the West Coast and in Southland. D. 0. BATES. Meteorological Office, Wellington, August 8, 1912.
