' TRADE IN ALLEN STREET. Fruit.—The Maunganui, due from Sydney to-day, is bringing the usual consignment pf pineapples, passion fruit, lemons, Seville oranges, sweet oranges, also mandarines. The Manuka is due from the Cook Islands m August 15, with the usual monthly shipment of bananas and oranges. The market is extremely bare of cooking apples, md consignments are recommended. Dessert apples are in good supply. Very few vpplos from Tasmania have como forward so far. Hot-house grown tomatoes from ihe Hutt ■ district are being received in moderate quantities, also cucumbers. Cut blooms, such as jonquils, daffodils, 'cesias, etc., have strong inquiry, and ex:ellent rates are being obtained. Vegetablce.—After a long spell of low piticas, cabbages show improved values. Consignments of pumpkins* marrows, celery, jauliflowers, parsnips, -and carrots can be recommended as they ate all in good denand. Eggs.—Fresh eggs are in full supply. Mid the current market value is Is. 3d. per iozen. Butter—The market is well supplied; prime milled, in bulk, lid.-to llld.; second luality, 9d. to 10d. Margarine, in 281b. tins, Scotch manufacture, Bd. to BJd. per lh. Lard.—Best factory "has, good inquiry, at id. per lb. Cheese.—Best factory, medium size, 7}d. :o 7Jd.: loaf. 73d. Hay has good inquiry, at £5 to £5 10s. per ton for prime quality, rye and clover. Chaff.—The market is ivell supplied, prime laten sheaf, £5 to £5 10s.; medium quality, £4 to £4 10s. Feed barley is diuill of sale, at 3s. 6d. per bushel, and Cape barley is also dull at Jβ. 9d. Oats are steady. Seed Algerian, 3s. 3d. to is. sd.;'short fee* and Dun oats are quoted it 2s. Bd. to 3s. per bushel. Oatmeal.—A good business is paesing at £13 10s. to £14 per ton. Rolled oats, in 41b. bags, arc ruling at te. per.dozen; and oatina at 9s. 6d. Maize has very little inquiry, at ss. 3d. to ss. 4d. a bushel. Onions are in short supply, and prices have advanced, to-day's quotation being 15s. per cwt. for good quality.. , Consignments are recommended. Oalifornian onions ire due on August 15. Pollard is in strong demand at £7 ss. to £7 10s. per ton. Bran meets with fair business at £5 10s. to £6. Rice meal has moderate inquiry at £5 155., with ricellour at £6 per ton. Potatoes.—A good demand exists for prime table potatoes at £6 15s. to £7 per ton. Seed varieties are selling at £6 to £9 UK, '.according to quality. Split npas are worth 17s. per cwt. Prussian blue pea? are quoted at 6s. 9d. a bushel. Partridge peas have good inquiry for seed, purposes at 4s. to !". 3d. per bushel. Whole linseed is quoted at 17s. 6d. to 18s. per <:wt. Linseed meal is selling at 22a. per cwt. Oufhc-d linseed cake. 14s. per cwt. Linseed nuts are quoted at 13s. 6d. per 3Wt. Ciifrtoms duties collected at the port of Wellington yesterday amounted to £3328 !s. 4d. POTATO PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press Assooiation.l Ch'rlstchurch, August 6. Potatoes arc the only commodity in the market in which there ie any business loing though, ifi anything, trade so far this week is quieter than it was last week. Prices remain much about the same—that is, £4 15s. for immediate delivery and £5 for delivery in a fortnight's time. For iots suitable for shipment to Australia, £5 Mjntinues , to be offered, but few growers ev-ill give the necessary certificate. SYDNEY BUTTER MARKET. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rcc.
