Tlx) following are the results:— Three-round bantam-weight contest-J. Mavmhan (Bush) v. J. Selby, a draw. Four-round feather-weight—E. Seywcll (Hukanui) beat F. Early (Bush); a knockout in the third round. Five-round feather-weight—F. Jervia (Palinerston North) beat A. Law (Danliovirko). The decision was unpopular. Four-round light-weight-J. Kelly (Bush) beat S. Pratt (Hukanui). Five-round feather-weight—W. Shields (Palinerston North) v. W. Ireland (Wai. pawa), a draw. Four-round middle-weight—P. Ryan (Bush) beat E. Narby (Hukanui); a knock« out in the third round. > Five-round . feathor-wei'ght— 13. Hunt (Bush) bent P. Brown (Paluierston North). Ail exhibition contest was given bv G. Watchom (Palraorston North), welterweight champion of New Zealand) and A. Hastings (Palmcrston-North). Mr. A. H. P. Whatman, of Masterton, was referee. BURNS CLAIMS THE CHAMPIONSHIP. Tommy Burns says that with .Tack Johnson s retirement tlio heavy-weight boxing championship of the world reverts to the white race, and ho is prepared to defend the title. THE HANNAN-MURPHY MATCH. The Wellington Boxing Association met last night and concluded tlio arrangements in connection with the meeting lietweeii "Denny" Murphy, the local Weiter," and "Billy" Hannan, of West Mainland, N.S.W., at the Town Hall on Wednesday next. Matches for the rest, of tlio season were considered with the result that it was determined to match Hannan with the winner of tho P. Cook-L. Porter match, at Palmerstou, on August 27, early in September, njid also to enter into negotiations with Frank Fitzjohn, cf Sydney, for a match with J. liegarty, as au tober fixture. HAWKE'S BAT TOURNAMENT., (By Tclofcrapli.—Special Correspondent.) Hastings, August 1. Last evening tho Hawke's Bay Amateur Boxing Association hold its annual championship gathering. Tho entries were almost all local, ond this fact resulted in a comparatively small attendance. There were a few good bouts, but the exhibitions on tho whole. were distinctly m'cdiocTe, and there was nq sign of budiling New Zealand champions. .
