ASSOCIATION.
N.Z. CONTROLLING BODY MEETS.
A meeting of' the Council of the NewZealand Football Association was held at tho Y.M.O.A. Rooms last evening. Mr. J. F« Atkins was in the ohair.
Letters wore received from the Canterbury and Wanganui Football Associations stating thiit they had arranged to play their Brown Shield match on August 21. The Canterbury Association had also managed to obtain an enclosed ground (the show ground) for that date.'. The Wellington Football ' Association i wrote regarding tho shield date chosen by Canterbury arid Wanganui, and asked that the match should bo set forward to August 10. If the other dato (August 24) were 'allotted it would mean that the Wellington challenge match for the shield will hot be played until some timo in September, ami that tho Otago match would be even later.
It was decided that as Wanganui had probably made all arrangements for the Canterbury match it was too late to olter tho date. The resolution carried was to the effect that tho secretary write to the two associations and approve the date (August 24). and add that it is regretted that they took so long to arrange the ■match.
. Mr. 'R.- M. Chadwick has been selected to act as referee in the Wellington and Hawke's Bay'representative match to lie played in Napier on August 17. The Poverty Bay Football Association wrote stating that somo of the players on the- Canterbury side in their recent Brown Shield match had played in. illegal boots. It was'decided to .ask the referee for a report concerning this matter. The Poverty Bay and the Hawke's Bay Associations forwarded lists of their membership. These showed an increase of 100. per cent, on last year's statistics.
