PALMERSTON BAY BY DAY.
(By Toleffraph— Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, July 30. Most of the flaxmillers in the Mauawatu district are arranging to restart operations within tho next few days. The recent riso in the price has naturally had a stimulating effect. Tho nest sitting of the Supreme Court here will open 011 August 19. At ' tho half-yearling meeting of tlio Flaxmill Employees' Union 011 Saturday last there were two representatives of tho Federation of labour present. They desired to address the meeting, but they were informed that, would not bo permissible until the business for which the meeting had been called had been transacted. When the business had concluded, however, it was too late to hear the Federatiqnists. There appears to be a fairly strong feeling against the Federation of Labour among the flaxmill employees. The electioii of a president of the" union was said to be practically a contest between- the. Federationists and anti-Federationists, and the latter's candidate won by VG votes to l! 0 Mr. Gavin Store being elected to the position.
