WAIHI MINERS.
« , THE CONCILIATION EFFORT. ' (By Telegraph-Press Association.) V/aihi, July 30. The Conciliation Commissioners (Messrs. Triggs and P. Hally), who are investigating tho Waihi dispute, and will report thereon to the Minister for Labour (Hon. AV. 11.I 1 . Massey), spent a busy day interviewing certain of the parties concerned, and taking voluntary / evidence bearing more or less directly on the trouble. <So far, no evidence has been tendered on behalf of the Minors' Union, arid it is .understood that the organisation Hill not be officially represented before the commission', as tho strike promoters are opposed to outside interference.
[At a meeting of the Thorndon Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, it was resolved to vote ,£lO from the funds and to circulate subscription lists among members to assist the strikers at Waihi, and the men locked out at Reefton. Tho meeting, which was a large one, was unanimous in supporting the resolution, tho feeling being that while they did not wish'to associate themselves in any way with the causes that led to the deadlock, they felt, as unionists, that ihey should support their comrades/]
