OUTSIDE RAILWAY EXPERT?
PALMERSTON MEN SAT "NO." (By Telegraph-Press Aseoclatlon.l Palmorston, July 29. Tho Palmerston North branch of tho Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants has resolved unanimously:—"That this branoh strongly supports the action of tho Addington branch in protesting against the announced intention of the Government to import an , expert to manage the New Zealand railways after the retirement of the present General Manager, instead of promoting an officer from the service who would be thoroughly familiar with Now Zealand conditious, aud equally Capable «s a railway man, aud especially in view of the fact that it has frequently been stated by those in authority that every facility is offered to every member, of the service to rise from tho lowest tc the highest position in it."
