MANAWATU AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
MEMBERS' FEES. Writing in reference to a statement in regard to members' ices in the presidential report at the annual meeting of the Mamivratu and West Coast A. and P. Association, the secretary, Mr. \V. T. Peiiny; says:—"The report you published states that last August the members' fees in twelve months were X'SO6 7s. 6(1.; now they are £9<tt 7s. Gd, in eleven months. This is not so, as the figures mentioned are for the period from the beginning of the financial year February 1. In the • first instance the period represents six : and a half months, and in the second five and a half months. The comparison was made to. show how many more members had paid their ..subscriptions before the Winter Show- this year than was tho case up to August 15, nearly two months after the Winter Show of 1911. I may.explain that many of our members do not trouble to pay their subscriptions'till , the Spring Show approaches, as this is the event which interest's them , most.' ' Consequently the amount; .£933 7s. Gd. will be greatly increased' before the end of the present financial year, which, owing to a recent alteration in rules, will not close nntil March 31 next. On the face of the report published, it would appear that the figures represented our annual members' fees, which, as you will gather, is far from being the ease."
