New Zealand Loan and' Mercantile' Agency Company, Limited, mid Itedpccd, report:—We held a most successful sale on lielia-lf of Messrs, Smith Jlros., nt their farm, Kuku Road, Ohau, on Friday last, when we offered the whole of their dairy herd of 60 cows, together with a large quantity of sundries, dairy utensils, etc. Buyers present from pretty well all over the district, and the sale was one of the most successful ever held in thofe parts. Sir. Newton King's weekly report states': On Friday, July 19, at my W'aiwakaiho Yards, I lu'.d a very large entry of cattle, including a number of catalogued pedigree Jerseys, on account of Sir. {.{. G. drover, Oakura, and the estate of K. llaudiey, Nukumaru, and other vendors. The attendance wais very representative. Bid- ; ding throughout was spirited, especially for the herd book cattle and best dairycows. Mr. G. G. Grover's stock were iii excellent condition, reali'-iug as follows:— Ped. cow, "Silver Darkie." \V. Vickers, Midhirst, 31gns.; pet!, cow, "Lala." John Hale. Spencc. N.P.. 18 gns. The cows offered in the estate of E. llaudiey were in very poor condition, and were not looking at all well, having heeu trucked through from South Taranaki. On account of Mr. E. J. Baker, a line of in-calf dairy cows, at from £4 to £7 lCs. On account of other vendors, choice young dairy cows realised from £12 to £18; first-lass. £10 t(, £11 10 3 .; good, £7 15s. to £? ICs.; aged, £3 lte. to £5 10s.; very choice dairy heifers, up to £12; good, up to £9 10=.; storo cattle were yarded in good numbers, everything being cleared at the following rates:—Slixed yearlings, £1 lis. 6d. to £3 Is. 6c1.; empty two-year heifers, £3 9s. to £4 lEs., according to colour; small two-year steers and bad-coloured, £2 6s. to £3 55.; aged cows, £2; 'store cows, £2 16s. 6d. to £3 165.: bulls. £2 2s. to £2 13,;.: two-tooth ewes in lamb, 13s. In my Stratford yards, op Tuesday, July 23, owing to the wet" weather, stock did not come forward up to advertised numbers, but I had a good entry, practically everything being cleared. Good empty 20-month to two-year heifers were in strong demand. Yearling steers, £2 7s. td.: yearling heifem. best. £2 12s. Cd. to £3 65.; smnll, £1 19s. 6d.: a nice lino of 15 coloured heifers and a yearling bull r.old readily at £3 10s. 6:1.: bulls. £2 to £3 12s. 6i. ;store cows, aged, £1; good, £2 12s, to £3 10s.; forward cows. £4 18s. 6d. to £5; fat cows, £6 45.: ivcaw>rs. 155.; empty 20month heifers, cood, £4 £$. to £1: others, £3 13s. 6d. to £3 195.; and a very choice line of two-year grade Jersey-, to tx Kakaramea client, at £5 6s.
