■, a . . At a meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society on Friday, Mr. J. Byers, of Carrington, wrote, donating two guineas for the best two-year-old draught filly. Mr. Byers also ■wjfcied a sheep for the guessing competition, the' animal to be subsequently sold for the benefit of tho society. The Carterton Golf Club has decided to hold an invitation ball on Friday, August IG. ' A canvassing committee from tho Wairarapa and East Coast V. and A. Society .will visit Wellington this week in the interests of the society's forthcoming show. On account of tho various playinggronnds in the district belli.? in very bail conditions, all football matches under the jurisdiction of tho Wairarapa Rugby Union were postponed on Saturday.
