Despite tlic efforts of his family to secure his release from the lunatic asy lum in which he is confined, Harry Thaw the Pittsburg millionaire, has been finall; declared insane. \ AN INTERMINABLE CASE. The Thaw case has been before llu American public on . innumerable occa sions since June, l'JOfi, when Thaw killc< Stanford White, a well-known architect whom he accused of immorality with llrs Thaw, '.['he case was one of the most im .savoury en record, even in America, Thav was placed on trial in January, 11107, am the jury disagreed in April. The secoiii I rial began eight months, later, and ii February of 1008 Tliaw was acquitted oi the ground of insanity and sent to jMaltea wan Asylum.He had been thcro only a few weeks when he obtained a writ oi habeas corpus, and a long hearing result ed in his being sent hack to tho asylum A. few weeks later another writ was obtained and another long healing wouh have followed if Thaw's counsel had'not decided that an attempt to obtain th< removal 'of his client, to Pennsylvania ii bankruptcy proceedings offered better hop< of success. On that attempt failing another writ was applied for and granted But the Judge's decision to send the cas< for hearing to New York County did nol meet the wishes of counsel, who accordingly after a short interval obtained r now writ. The result was a further healing, which ended in the Judge finding thai Thaw was suffering from the form of insanity known'as paranoia. Tho hearing had all the detail and circumstance of ; criminal trial. Witness follows witness alienists are marshalled on either side the testimony of previous trials was read and there were numerous exhibits. Since the civil rode of tho State de prives the Judges of tlis right to refnsi an application for a writ of habeas cor pus, remarked the "Tinies."
