PETONE WOOLLEN MILLS FIRE.
DRYING-HOUSE GUTTED. . About 2.80 yesterday afternoon a fire broke out in the wool-drying house, at the Petono Woollen Mills. The engines were at once stopped, and tho pumps brought into action. Tho mill brigade quickly had half a dozen leads of hoso out, and, a few minutes, later, they were joined by tho town' and workshops brigades, and tho threo together soon suppressed tho flames. Tho drying-house is separated from tho main mill with a solid brick wall, thus isolating tho flames. It is impossible ' to state tho exact amount of damage done, but the wool in tho drying-house, along with tho wooden racks, \vero burned, and tho place gutted. It is now about six months ago since the drying-house was gutted by fire, under similar conditions. The cause of yesterday's firo is unknown. Work was not resumed yesterday, but will bo this morning. v
