THE CABINET.
GETTING DOWN TO POLICY, Ministers assembled in Cabinet yesterday afternoon to consider questions of policy, and similar matters will engage their attention henceforth until the House, meets. Cabinet is to meet again to-day at 2 p.m. Tho first business of Parliament when it re-assembles on .Wednesday will bo to consider and put through an Imprest Supply Bill. It is expected that a number of policy measures will be announced ns soon as tho House meets. Recent Ministerial utterances in public have suggested that the Financial Statement, in which tho policy of the Government is to bo outlined, will 1)0 brought down next week. The Hon. Jas. Allen had intended to leave last evening on a short visit to Dunedin, but pressure of business compels him to remain in Wellington, and it is now unlikely that ho will leave town bofore tho session begins. All tho Ministers will l)o in Wellington.to-day.
