— -e SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications aro for raw and unsettled weather generally; heavy rain over the North Island and tho northeastern portion of tho South Island 'especially; snow on higher levels and hail, showers in part 3. Easterly to south-easterly winds, strong to gale, are probable gonerally. A further deoroaso in barometric pressure is expected before tho rise—due to take place by Saturday evening. Tho barometer is etill very high in the south and low in the north, and with a falling tendency everywhere. Except on tho Wost Coast of tho Bouth Island, the weather has been gloomy and showery with hoa,vy rain in several districts. Easterly to southerly winds have prevailed, and strong to gale in parts.
