A successful Eocial event was held at the Potone Bowling Club's pavilion last evening. In spite of the bad. weather there was a good attendance of bowlers, and lady frieuds. Tho first part of tho evening was.devoted to progressive euchre, and after supper songs, etc., were given. In connection' with tho Hutt Valley Poultry Show, a dinner was given to officials and friends at the Hutt Drill Hall last evening. Congratulatory speeches wero.made and toasts honoured A well-attended fancy dress and masquerade ball was hfcUL at King George Theatre, Lower Hutt, last evening. Somo of the costumes worn wero original aud quaint. The dance programme was also well arranged.

At Monday night's. meeting " of tho Petonc Borough Council, Councillor Piper will move, pursuant to ndtito: (1) That the engineer id bound to tako action in all cases of breaches of any by-law; (2) that tho engineer bo now instructed to take action in all rases whet'o compliance with tile last portion of Sub-section (a), Section 52, of the. drainage and sanitary by-law, 1911, has. not boon complied with.
