The now tunnel under tho Thames between Woolwioh- and North Woolwich is now approaching completion, and will be opened for traHio shortly. The tunnel, which is IGSO feet in length, will supply a much-needed means of communication between the points named. At. present there is a ferry service which carries an enormous number of persons and vehicles daily; hut has long proved entirely inadequate to the demands made upon it. The Woolwioh tunnel completes the quartet of great schemes of a similar character for the facilitation of cross-Thames traffic, the other' i three ' beiti? ' at Greenwich, Rotherbithe, ani Blackwejl,
