GREATER CHRISTCHURCH. Christchurch, July 24. A conference of representatives of the local bodies surrounding Christchurch was held this evening to discuss tho question of enlarging the boundaries of tho city, so as to take in an area from tho northern boundary of tiro Borough of New Brighton to Lyttelton, and the Counties of Heathcolc and Waimairi. A motion was agreed to expressing tho opinion that tho ultimate niiu in tho organisation of the local Government in tho City of Christchurch, puivounding boroughs, and residential districts, should the inclusion of tho whole area in a Greater Christchurch, and amalgamation with tho Christchurch City Council of all local bodies and boards therein. THAT TOHUNGA. Palmerston. July 24. The Tohunga Hinganhaka, charged with a serious offcnce, was to-day committed for trial on tho minor charge of indecent assault. Mr. Cooper, accused's counsel, applied for a Maori jury, which was granted. Bail wns allowed in .£2OO, and two sureties of .£l5O each. Tho Court sal to-day at Motuili Pa and took the evidenco of Emily Heta, who is said to be dying.

THE BOAR'S ATTACK. Timaru, July 24. Ilenry Riddell, aged CO, a resident of Washdyke, wont last evening to give somo feed to pigs belonging to a butcher near lus place. Ho did not return, and his wife supposed that ho was at a neighbour's. To-day a man going to the pig yard found him dead, with a largo gash in the groin, severing an artery, and other woumls. It is supposed that ho was attacked by a boar and bled to death. RESIGNED IN PROTEST. Christchurch, July 24. Mr. C. Allison, a member ol' the Hospital Board, after protesting resultlcssly against the policy of tho board in certain respects, announced that as he consi-'crod the methods of tho board unconstitutional and wasteful, lie had resigned his seat. DEFENCE ACT FINES. Whangarei, July 24. Forty youths were summoned to answer chargcs of non-attendance at a Territorial camp. Nineteen eases were withdrawn, and the other defendants were subjected to penalties varying from fines of 10s. to .£3, with costs. Thero was only ono objector on the ground of disapproval of the Act.

MISSING BOYS TURN UP. Auckland, July 24. Tlia throe OneTiunga boys named Olncy (aged 10, 12, and 14 years) who were reported yesterday as having been missing from home since Monday morning have turned up at Whangaparoa, near Silverdole. Until about'noon to-day thowhere"bouts of tho boys was still unknown to their relatives or to the polico at Onehunga, but a telegram then reached their father from an elder son, who is engaged in farming work at Whangapiroa. It intimated that the boys had arrived there, and would be brought homo on Sunday. The probability is that they walked to Auckland, crossed the harboui on the ferry steamer to Bayswater or Devonport, and then walked out past Lake J alcapuna to Whangaparoa, a distance of about'3o miles,
