THE COST OF LIVING.
Sir,—Apparently this Royal Commission inquiring into tho cost of living Las finished its task, and, liko some others set up by the late Govcrnnent seems to be a regular farce. The cost of living today is not higher—if so high—as it itas thirty years ago, and only about onethird what it was fifty years ago, when flour was 25?. to 30?. per cwt. Hut if this new Government that has got into power would set up a Royal Commission to inquire into tho cost of (lie government of this little Dominion for tho Inst twenty years, 1 think it would open the eyes of those who arc complaining of the cost of living, and who kept tliein there to the fact that extravagance and wosto can;'t be kept up without heavy taxation in nil tho forms available for taxes:— I am, etc., TAXPAYER.
