1 6 CONGRATULATIONS FROM KATIKATi: At its meeting on July 20 (writes a correspondent), the Katiknti Road Board passed the following resolutions:— (1) Tlio ICatikati Road Board unanimously desires to convey to the Hon. W. P. llassey their sincere and hearty congratulations upon the result of his indomitable courage and eneTgy in being now placed in the proud position of Prime Minister, as leader of a party formed for the reform of many abuses that have crept into our political system, and h-ust that he will have the support of those who lovo their country, irrespective of our parochial politics, when they consider the difficult position ill which he is placed in consequence of reckless finance in the past, and the present stringent position of the money market. (2) "That this board desires to tender to their time-honoured representative _in Parliament, the lion. W. 11. Herries, M.P., their most hearty congratulations upon his attaining the position lie is so eminently qualified to hold as Minister of the Crown, and to wish him and the Government he represents a long lease of power, with" the result that in due course of tiino the exodus of population from our shores will he arrested, the settlement of our waste lands ensured by the primary producers of wealth to tho benefit of tho State and all classes of the community, and a firm but liberal policy adopted in dealing not only with disputes between ompiovces and themselves, but also be- . tween'them and their employers, irrespective of class, and thereby foster and promote tho various manufacturing and mineral industries which tho undeveloped resources of the Dominion so bounteously provide.
