SUPERANNUATION.
FOR WELLINGTON HOSPITAL ' EMPLOYEES. The following recommendation from tho Hospital Committee was-.passed by fhe Hospital and Charitable Aid Board vosterday •— That the question of inaugurating ft system of superannuation for tho staff be considered by the board. The motion was strongly supported by Mr. B. R. Gardiner, who thought that people who had worked faithfully and honestly until they were GO or Go years of age were absolutely entitled to superannuation. It was a difficult matter to handle, and he did not know whether tho beard could handle it, but ho thought they should'appoint a committee to go into the matter and see what oould bo done. The chairman said that superannuation was "an oxpensivo luxury," but if the times demanded it tho board would have to consider it. Mr. Fletcher said that tho recommendation had his hearty support. Thev wero arranging a superannuation scheme 'in connection with the Harbour Board's employees, and there was only one small alteration to the Local Bodic-s' Superannuation. Act '(in Clause 1G), which prevented" them going right ahead. That was Iwin® dona, a.nd the scheme would then lie initialed. What they first had to do was to got a list of the employees, and then tlioy had got an actuarial report as to liow contributions to tho fund could be arranged. Now, by the Local Bodies' Superannuation Act, the beard could nlly itself with kindred institutions in a superannuation schema. On Hie motion of Mr. Baldwin a committee was set up to go into tho matter. Us constitution is as follows:—Mcssts. J. Trevor (chairman), R. Kirk, J. W. M'Ewcn, it. Fletcher, 11.
