Arrived.—Maungnnui (8.20 a.m.), from Melbourne and Hobart. • THE SYDNEY BOAT. It was not until midnight on Saturday last that the Moeraki was able to get away from Sydney for Wellington direct. There arc 83 saloon and 102 steerage passengers on board for all ports, out of which 61 and 72 in each class are for Wellington. Tho vessel's arrival may be looked for on Wednesday afternoon. BLENHEIM'S POSITION SERIOUS. On Sunday last a Press Association telegram was received from Blenheim intimating that the cross-Strait packet Blenheim had grounded on the bar. Yesterday Messrs. Johnston and Co., agents for tho vessel, received advice that the Blenheim's position had become serious. Tho agents have also been asked to send over salvage gear, which will probably be dispatched to-day. The bar was so bad on Sunday that the Opawa was unable to enter, and consequently she went on to Picton. EEMTJERA AND OPAWA. The Now Zealand Shipping Company advise that the departure of R.M.S. Remncra from London has been postponed until Friday next. The liner was to lmvo sailed on Saturday last. The company also advise that they have received cabled advice intimating that the Opawa left Loudon on July 19 for Dnncdin, Lyttelton, and Timaru.

AEAPUKA ON THE COAST. _ Shortly before 7 o'clock yesterday morning the West Coast packet Arahura. arrived at Greymouth from Wellington, via Picton and Nelson. The vessel loft for Wcetport on tho return trip at 5 p.m. yesterday, and is timed to leave Wcstport at 3 o'clock this afternoon for Nelson, Picton, and Wellington. Sho is duo at Wellington to-morrow evening. ; LAUNCH PICKED UP. Mr. G. Allport (Secretary of Marino) received a, telegram from the Collector of Customs at Wcstport yesterday, as follows:—"Captain Whalstrom, of the Putiki, picked up launch 16 miles N.E. of Parewell Spit light yesterday morning; hull kauri, painted white with green stripe, red deck-house; Union oil engine 3 h.p., mast stepped, sail awash overboard, also anchor with two fathoms rope overside; no name on boat." The local agent 3 for the Putiki also rcceivod a similar telegram from Captain Whalstrom, giving the above particulars, also the dimensions, which are as follow:— Length 23ft., breadth 7ft. The agents are of opinion that probably the launch had been anchored in tho Sounds or Blind Bay, and that the recent heavy floods and bad weather had caused the little vessel to drag hor moorings, and consequently she drifted out to sea. STJBF BOATS LOST. , Information has been received to the effect that the coastal steamer Kiritona lost a surf boat at Tokoniaru Bay during tho recent heavy weather. This makes the third surf boat AvJiich Messrs .Richardson and Company's steamers liavo lost within the last four months. The Weka lost ono at Turnagain, the Kahu one at Horocra, and tho present one at Tokomaru Hay. This is in addition to the unfortunate loss of the surf boat at Whangaiku, where life was also lost. The U.S. and A.S. liner Ncidenfels arrived in port last, evouing from New York, via Auckland, and berthed at tho Queen's Wharf to dischargo cargo. After finishing at this port, the , vessel will sail for Nelson, probably leaving on Thursday. A Wcstport exchange of Saturday last Eta to?:—Captain Thorpe, master of one of tho Norwegian whaling vessels, is in the Wcstport Hospital Buffering from an internal trouble that i»ay necessitate an operation. Captain Thorpe has received word that each of tho vessels that went out recently returned. with a whale, so evidently the company's enterprise is meeting with a good reward. On July i 29 tho coastal steamer Kahu is to go on the Wellington Patent Slip for annual overhaul. The Hunt is to tako up tho Kahu's running, during the former's overhaul. Tl'.e collier Kittawa, which arrived at an early hour yesterday morning, from Westpart, berthed lator in the day at,the Miramar Wharf to discharge coal for the Wellington Gas Co. Tho crew of the Itotoiti wore signed off on Saturday, as the vessel is to undergo an overhaul, prior to being handed over to tho Northern Steamship Co. Tho Tarawcra is to, leave Dunedin today for Lyttchon and Wellington, and is expected hero on Thursday noxt. The Rosamond arrived at Auckland on Sunday morning, and left attain yesterday afternoon for Wellington direct. She is due here on Wednesday, and will soli again at 5 p.m. for New Plymouth and Onehunga. On Saturday night the Haupiri arrived at Auckland from Wellington, via East Coast bays. Slio is to sail at 7 o'clock this morning for East Coait bays nnd Wellington, and should show up here du Saturday. Tho Te Anau is duo on Thursday, and will' sail on tli3 same day for Wcstport and Greymouth only, omitting her usual call at Now Plymouth. The Defender is to leave for Picton and Hokitika to-day. The Shaw-Savill liner Ze'alandic is to leave to-day for Auckland, The Echo will probably leave New Plymouth to-day for Mokau to load timber for New Plymouth. The Government Eteamcr Hinemoa, which last week was unable to effect a landing at East Capo, is at present at Auckland, but is to - have there to-day for the Gulf and northern lighthouses. Last evening the Hauroto left Wellington for Wcstport. From Westport the vessel goes on to Auckland, leaving the northern port on July 31, for Apia and Suva, She is due at Suva on August 5. The Kurow went into dock at Auckland on Friday last. She is expected to sail from the northern port to-day for Suva and Lnutoka. The Wajnnia left Auckland yesterday afternoon for Limestone Inland, whence she is to take part cargo of cement for Sydney. Tha steamer Elvaston, 4255 tons, the Ilarrisoii-Diuk'aa Line of London, arrived at Auckland on Thursday ln»t from Antofagasta (South America). The vei?ol was short of ccal, and had called to replenish her bunkers. The officers reported that the steamer was 41 days out. and throughout the voyage hiul met with head winds. When 100 miles from Sydney a terrific northerly gale was met with, and it was then decided to make for Auckland. Tho .-teamer resumed her voyags on Saturday.
