TRANSPORT STRIKE

A MANIFESTO. WILD WORDS BY BEN TII.LET, POSITION OF THE EMPLOYERS, Br Teleeraph—Press Association—Copyrie'At London, July 19. Tho Strike Committee lias issued a manifesto in which it declares that tho employers have flagrantly broken the agreements. It estimates that nearly .£50,000 has been pilfered from the men's wages, over GO per cent of whom earned less than a pound weekly. The' strike funds are depleted, and four hundred thousand people are starving. It makes an urgent appeal for assistance. Mr. Ben Tillet is supporting the. manifesto calling upon the Government ''to force Devonport and his gang of thieves from power. If anybody deserved to bo killed," said Mr. Tiller, "it was that gang who, smilinK wider in the security of tho bayonets of soldiers and the bludgeons of police, were maddening the men." Mr. 'fillet added that he would deem it a righteous act to rob the Bank of England for the men's licnefit. Lord Devonport justifies his refusal to agree that the men should resume work under the samo conditions as prior to the strike, because the 'concession granted in August had been abused, and had enabled the leaders to enforce tho Federation ticket on men applying for work. The employers now demand that tho men should resume under the conditions obtaining prior to August.
