I am certainly goiilg to wear tho silver fern, for it has always eeon me homo to vietory. I iun getting into really good form, and hovo only about 01b. to tnko off, and fliU six wcekn, to go, so I ought to bo fit. 1 have worked , hard since, arriving in England, and have had beu'iliful weather, and it 'was no .trouble to get tho weight off. There is very littlo -Wting on tJio race, but, in what thoro is, I am favourite. I did a satisfactory trial a week nga over a mile and throo-quartorj;, and, when properly wound up. should hnvo n really good, chance. The climate suits mo all right, and I liko tho river, although thero is a, fairly strong current, and it is u. bit choppy at times. I intend returning home through America, and so will call at Auckland. I am at present trying to , ppt a match with Durnan ou my way through., and hojio to bo successful."
