OTHER RUGBY.

At the annual general meeting of the English Rugby Football Union, held in London, Mr. A. M. Crook was elected president and Messrs. A. Hartley and E. Preseott vice-presidents. The accounts showed o, clear profit on the match account of .£5339 9s. lOd. The' following amendments approved by the International Board, were agreed to:—Law 16 to read: "In the case of a. throw forward or knock-on the ball shall bo brought back to the place whero such infringement occurred, and there be scrummaged, unless a fair catch has been allowed, or the opposite side gain an advantage, or unles3 in the opinion of the referee such throw forward or knock-on is wilful, when he may award a free-kick to be token at the spot where such infringement occurred. This shall not apply to a wilful throw forward or knock-on into touch, which must be dealt with under Law IGa." Add now Law ICa: "If a player shall wilfully pass, knock, or throw tho ball into touch tho opposite sido may claim feither a free-kick or scrummage to l>9 taken at tbe option either at a spot at right angles to tho touch-lino, 10 yards from ttu> place where the ball went into touch, or at spot whero tho pass, knock, or throw forward occurrod. In the oase of a froe-kick tho spot shall be token tm a mark. This law shall not over-rido the power of tho referee to allow or disallow a try undor Law 13." The definition of a tackle to read as follows:—"A tacklo is when tho holder of tho ball is held by one or moro players of tho opposite side, eo that h<> ennnot at any moment while he is so held pass or play it." And to Law 18: "If studs arc worn they shall be circular, not more than Jin. long measured from tho solo of the boot, and not less than Jin. in diameter at the base and Jin. Nt the top, and shall do fastened with not Lies than, three naib."-
