THE HUTT BOWLING CLUB.

, The following is a summary of the ninth annual report orihb Hutt Bowling Club: The -numerical strength has been increased bv the formation of a, Croquet Club, and tfie general membership at June 20 numbered :■ Bowlers, TO;'tennis players, liO; croquet players, ■ 24; making a total of 170: The balance-sheet, shows a fatisfactory position, the year winding up with a credit of £29 ,17s. sd. During the re-cess-many improvements to the gi'aimds have been made. The green has boon topdressed, and the croquet lawn enlorfred, and the club desired to.thank Mr. C. Ilollard and Mr. C. Trevethick for their services.in this'direction. From a playing point of .view, fast eeason was one of the very busiest, many, cliib matches .being played both at home and away. It is with pleasure, that the club notices an increase, of interest in tho. tennis section, and - with ■ the ■ full four courts assured, together with' better accommodation at the pavilion, the interest should now bo even gieater. The tournament, hold during.the ssnsoii was keenly contested. Although the croquet'lawn was not in good order, the u::e of one of Hie.grass tennis courts gave ii.playiiig ground which attracted regular attendances. The Committee are pleased to report that steps, have been taken to obtain a complete titlo by the Borough Council to certain old roads which wera originally laid off by the Hoa. John Martin. These. roads will give access from the Main Kcad to the club's property, and the value has teen largely increased by this action. The net results of tho two concerts organised during the y«ar enobled the club to.carry out a comprehensive scheme of improvements. In conclusion the club desires to thank Mw. A. Seymour, Hogarth,. Dwyer, and.C. H. Treadwell for assistance.
