A PROSPEROUS YEAH. According to the Report to bo presented at tho annual meeting of.the Dannevirke A. anil P. Society on Saturday, IGG new momlwrs were eiected during the year, making: tho iiuniU'r on the roll at pro-cut 575, a number of wl(om, however, are in arrears with their subscriptions.. M.i\ L. C Rathbono (president) offered a trophy to tho member who should introduce .tho largest number of members during tho year. The competition began as from the end of September last, and Mr. Louis- Meeking, with 37 new members to his credit, is the winner of the trophy. During the yenr a freehold area of 251 aorcs was purchased as a show-ground, the price! paid being ,£2514. The financial aspect with regard to the equipment of tho new show grounds with yard accommodation, buildings, etc., received careful consideration, and a special general meeting' authorised the. raising of a sum of money by means of debentures, up to a limit of <£2000. About .£I3OO has so far teen- promised, and of that sum ,£930 has come iu up to the present. If the whole sum of «C2OQO can bo obtained bv above means, it will enable out of tho full scheme on satisfactory and economical lines. The year's operations show a profit, of .£155 13s. Id., and there is a credit in prolit and loss account of J.-809 13s. lOd. The question of instituting a two-days' show is to come up for discussion at the annual meeting.
