CANADIAN DREADNOUGHTS.
ONE TO BE BTJILT EVERY YEAR , OR TWO. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec July 17, 9.50 p.m.) London, July 17. The Toronto correspondent of "The Times" fays that, judging from the cablegrams, there is sorno misunderstanding in various directions of the naval policy Canada desires to adopt. The Government is understood not to desire to give Dreadnoughts to the Admiralty, but to build Dreadnoughts at intervals of hvo or three years. These would constitute an integral portion ,of the Imperial Navy in war time; and also ta the chief vessels of the Canadian fleet if one were established. Any immediate agreement to build Dreadnoughts represents only an emergency contribution to the Empire. 80-, yond this, a permanent policy will be devised in consultation with tho Imperial authorities.
