MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
, (Before Mr. V. G. liiddell, S.M.) At the Magistrate's Court yesterday William Ilenry Shepcrd pleaded guilty to having wilfully assaulted Kllea and l'ctcr Carnic. He also admitted having damaged property belonging to I'etcr Carnie. It appeared that accused was employed at Carnie's boardinghouse, and was the worse for liquor when he came home )n Tuesday evening. Ho first quarrelled with Peter Carnic, and then with Mrs. Cavnio, who is his mother, i'or assaulting J'cter Carnic he was fined 205., and i'or Hie same offence against Mrs. Carnic •Ml-. I'or damaging the property he was ordered to pay damages to the amount of 19s. Frances Curry, an elderly woman, was se:iteiic:'d to six months for being a rogue and a vagabond. Thomas Patrick I'richard, who was charged with assaulting and causing actual bodily harm to Neil M'Dongall, on tho s.s. Morayshire, was remanded till Saturday next. Seven first offenders, charged with insobriety, were dealt with.
