At "stumps" South Africa were all out for 263 runs, and Australia had 86 up for, two wickets. Tho personnel of the teams is as follows :—.,•' Australia.-W. Bardsley,, C. G. Macartney, C. Kolleway, J. Nourse, H. W. Taylor, L. A. Strieker, F- Mitchell, R.O. Schwarz, S.J. Pegler, and T. A. Ward. The match was begun in glorious weather and on a fast wicket. Mitchell won the toss, and batted. A Dlssapointing Start. Faulkner and Tancred were the pioneer batsmen, Minnett. and Whitty bowling. \A disappointing start was made, for at 24' Faulkner, who had 'made but 5, played Whitty on.
