£600 FROM AUSTRALIA.
FOR WAIHI AND REEFTO.W ' Messrs. Hickcy and Webb, officials of tho Federation of Labour, who went to Australia recently, to "raise the wind" for tho strikers at Waihi and Reefton, have forwarded J!G00 to the secretary of tho Federation (Mr. J. Glover). The same official has received word that the Newcastle miners had voted .£2OO to, the fund, and were considering a proposal to strike a levy. The miners at Wonthaggi (Victoria) had voted ,£45 and struck a levy, and tho General Labourers' Union of New South Wales had sent a douation of £'20. Mr. P. 11. Hickey, writing from Sydney to Mr. Glover, stated that lie had received a sympathetic hearing from the Sydney Trades and Labour Council, and from the unions which he had visited. At the time of writing he had arranged to visit Cobar and Broken Hill,, and Mr. Webb was to canvass along: the South Coast (N.S.W.) and Lithgow.
