HARRIERS,
A highly-successful run of all the harrier clubs of Wellington was held last Saturday afternoon from Cliff House, Island Bny. A pack of fifty-six runners took part, the total being made up as follows:—Wellington 28, Brooklyn 23, Central 3, and M.Y.M.I. •2. Tho trail was laid by B. Eeid (Wellington), C. Coard (Brooklyn), C. Duck (Central), and AV. Evans (J1.Y.J1.1). The route was over tho hills above Iloughton Bay, into Lyall Bay, thence round the road home.' A run m of about a mile was held, all runners being on scratch. The Brooklyn cracks took advantage of their condition, and made- tho pace solid right from the start. The first to show out was C. Murray, closely followed by V. Hodson, with 11.I 1 . Byrne, W. Press, and E. B. Smith clo?o* up, the finish resulting: C. Murray 1, F. J. Byrne 2, and 1\ Hodson 3, of the Brooklyn Club. C. Ptigh (Central) just gained fourth place from E. B. Smith (Brooklyn) fifth, W. Press (Wellington) was sixth man in. Judging by the running of the Brooklyn men, who aro to represent tho club at Palmerston North on July U, in the five-mile Wellington provincial event they should t-aKe a lot of beating.
