WOOL, HIDE & TALLOW SALES.

The ordinary city sales of wool, hides, Bkins, and tallow were held yesterday, and the various brokers' report aro as fellow:— Jtessrs. Dalgcty and Company, Limited, rcport:-We held our fortnightly auction sale yesterday afternoon, when we offered, in addition to tho usual quantities of skins, hides, and tallow, a lnrge quantity of wool, mostly crutchingf, which had been held over from our last sale. Thcro \w» a largo attendance of tho trade, mid competition was very spirited throughout, all linos being eagerly sought flftor. Prices wove very firm, any change being in fellers favour. Wool: Merino crutchiugs, 53d. to Old.; crossbred crutchings, good, 65d. to 71 d.; crossbred crutchings, medium, 43d. to 6d.; crossbred erutellings, inferior, 4d. to 4\d.; fine crossbred, Bid. to 9d.; crossbred, 6Jd. to Bd.; lambs, 6d. to 7Jd.; dead, 6d. to 73d.; pieces and locks, 3d. to 43d.; washed pieces, 2{A. to 63d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile \gency Co., Ltd., and Eeduced, report:Our wool catalogue consisted mostly of crutchings, which sold at remarkably good prices, and wo ohtained 7d. for one lot of superior quality Homney erutchings. SheepBkms and hides wore in good demand, but hides wero a little lower, in sympathy with Australian current values. Mixed tallow, in shipping condition, was eold at late rates, but odd packages wero slightly lower. Wool: A considerable quantity of cnitchiiigs was offered. The condition of this class 1 of wool was better than previous sales, and fold at an advance of a farthing for best lines, and a halfpenny to tlircefarthiugs for medium and inferior. Messrs. Murray, Eoberts, and Co., Ltd., report:—We offered 320 bales of wool, 3000 sheepskins, and 600 hides. Tho attendance, of buyers was very large, several southern buyers being present, owing to the large quantity of crutchings offered. Prices for cmtchings showed an advance on last sale's rates of Id. per lb. Tho medium and inferior 6orts sold particularly well. Sheepskins and hides were very firm at last sale's prices, the latter showing a- tendency to harden. Crutchings were in good demand, our beet price boing 7*d. for four bales of halfbred crutchings, on account of Messrs. Birch and Sons, "Ercwhon," and 6jd.' for five balee of ewe crutchings.
