Chrlstchurch, July ,12. ; Heavy rain has fallen/in North Canter,bury during the last two days. The rivers are in flood, and the coach service is interrupted. The weather is still ■ wet.

A good deal of anxiety wns felt at Ternuka- last night, as tho river, rose to high flood level and 6everal families had to remove from their dwellings. In the low-lying part of the borough tho water was over tlie railway lino, and , there were a few low lakes between Timaru and Studholme, but no material damage was done. "A good deal of land along the coast ■ was submerged, all tho lagoons being full, to overflowing. Fortunately the rain was warm, and the stock did not suffer much by the storm. Today has been clear and bright.

Railway communication was not interrupted, though the low-lying ground ie submerged, the rails at tho lowest point bedng still r couple of feet above, tho water. North Taieri is under water in parts, and a considerable stretch is inundated in. the Otakia and Henley districts.
