Reid, S.M.,' with forging the name of Robert Knox, horse trainer, to a cheque f0r..£37 17s. S)d., and uttering tho eaino to John Lincoln Murray. Accused, who had been in the employment of Mr. Knox for a couple of months, pleaded guilty, and was remanded to the Supreme Court for sentence. At its' meeting last evening, the Maetorton School Committee protested against the proposal of the Wellington Education Board to transfer Mr. C. M. Haslam to Island Bay before his successor arrives. Mr .Haslam was shis afternoon entertained by the pupils and teachers of the District High School and made the recipient of a presentation. The Masterton competitions festival was brought to a conclusion to-night with a demonstration and concert in tho Town Hall. Tho festival has proved a f.uceess from overy point, of view, the hall being crowded «t each session. Nominations for the officers and general committee of the Masterton A. ond P Association have closed. Mr. ]In;;h Morrison was ro-clcotod.president without opposition, and Messrs. John Strang aud Bland Itayrer havo been elected vicepresidents, with Mr. ]). Caselberg as treasurer. As the' number of nominations of committeemen did not exceed the number of vacancies, there will be no election. The annual meeting of members takes place on July 27, The Masterton Harriers held tnothci successful Tim yesterday. The-Poverty-Bay hockey team, which failed in its attempt to' wrest tho Nordon Cup from tho Maeterlon Club, returned to their homes to-day. • Mr.- J: S. Telinant, Principal of the Wellington Training will deliver an address before tho Wairarapa-branch of the AVcllington .Training College- tomorrow- ■ - ;
