ITill (New Zealand), the Australasian representative, did not qualify for the final. Hannes Kole-hmainen, the Finn champion, captured tho .00(10 metres after a world's record run of 1-lmin. 30 3-sscc. Hill, fourth in 'his'heat, did not reach the final. In his heat of the 10,000 metres the New Zealandcr retired in- the tenth lap. \\\ Murray, Victoria, and representing Australasia, retired at a. mile «nd threequarters in tho 10,000 metres walk. C. Atkinson (a New Zealand champion), who was chosen as one of tho British team, has qualified for tho final of the 200 metres breast stroke. The draw of the first round of the rowing contest is as follows:—.Australia v. Gothenburg, Leander v. Canada, New College y. Norway. Stewart (Australasia) made a deadheat with Macintosh (Britain) in their heat iu tho iirst round of the 200 metres race. T. Jfacdonald (America) won the weightputting competition. His distance was 10.34 metres (about 50i feet)--a. record.
SWIMMING EVENTS. CANADIAN WINS 1500 METRES ITACE. (Rcc. July 12, 0.40 a.m.) Stockholm, July 11, The 1500 metres swimming race was won by G. Hodgson (Canada) in 22 minutes, a record. Harold Hardwick (Australasia) was third, his timo being 23min. 15 2-ssec. Malcolm Champion (Australasia) retired after covering 700 metres. Hodgson, continuing his swim, beat the mile record with 23min. 34 5-lOsec. The final for the 100 metres, free style, wag won by Knhanaraoku, in lmin. 3 2-5 sec. Cecil Healy (Australasia) was second, his time being lmin. i 3-ssec. Applcgarth was the only Britisher to qualify for tho 200 metres sprint final,

Renter's Stockholm correspondent unfavourably compared tho British competitors with the Americans, and says tho British men aro not working fcoriously. Tho controllers of.tlio team admit that the British competitors aro indifferent to discipline.
