Sydney, July 11. At the meeting of Uio Labour. Council Executive it was reported Hint a, letter itud been, received from tho Wellington oouncil to the effect that the Wailii nnd Reefto'u men had muiki. a mistake in striking, and that tho Wellington-coun-cil was not prepared to assist tho New Zealand Federation of Labour or isMie. an appeal to tho'affiiiated unions for-as-sistance, believing that tho Umorican system of warfare wits unsuitable. foT the Dominion.
Ono delegate said that there were foni Labour Councils in New Zealand, nnd ii was strange if only ono had been consulted. Whether tho men had made a teolinical mistake or not he would suppori them.
Another delegate declared that when (vxvrkers were 6oeking more wages or shorter hours they were never wrong. The executive stated that it was seeking further information, from the Auckland Council.
A proposal to make an immediate appeal to tho unions for assistance, was negatived. '
