The • Chambers of Commerce Congrese has carried a resolution approving of the movement tor a trade-mark to denote that goods have been manufactured or produced in the British Empire ' It was decided that the Commonwealth Government be requested to open negotiations with the British, Canadian, and Now Zealand Governments, with a view to acquiring control of a. cable across the Atlantic from Canada to Britain. .' The Congress also affirmed tho desirability of an amendment of fire insurance policies to cover loss or damage by fire in consequence of strikers' riots and civil commotions. It was decided to approach tho fire underwriters on the subject.
